Top Earning Deceased Celebrities
Being a celebrity may come with its drawbacks, but the financial rewards are often excellent. For some celebrities, the earning does not stop when they pass away. There are many celebrities who continue to rake in money even after their demise. The financial website Forbes compiled a list of more than ten famous people who died but still continue to bring in money.
In some ways, it is easier for brand managers and “teams” to make money off a celebrity after they have died. The celebrity’s past work, on camera persona, image, and status within society are all cashed in as much as possible. Teams will come up with perfumes, colognes, clothing lines, t-shirts, cups, hats, and other souvenirs for fans to purchase. All of this makes money.
1. Michael Jackson –
He is the biggest name on the list, along with being the celebrity that makes the most money after his passing. Through various means, the Michael Jackson brand managed to make over $100 million in 2013 and 2014. There was an album release of tracks that were written and recorded, but not released, by Jackson in the last five to ten years of his life. There is also Michael Jackson merchandise on sale 24/7, and tours of his various properties around the United States.
2. Bettie Page –
She may not be well known among younger audiences, but Bettie Page is still a very popular model. The team behind her name managed to rake in $10 million over the past year and a half. A television show is being created to celebrate Page’s life, which should provide substantial earnings.
Page was hugely popular in the late 1940s, 1950s and early 1960s. She passed away in 2008 at the age of 85, but the Bettie Page brand is still as strong as ever.
